When you arrive for your appointment, please wait in your car in the car park until a nurse comes to invite you in.
As you enter the practice the nurse will take and record your temperature and ask you to confirm that you have no Covid-19 symptoms and that you haven’t been near someone with the coronavirus.
The nurse will then escort you to the appropriate surgery. If you have a coat or bag we will ask you to leave these in a box outside the surgery to be collected on your way out. We will then ask you to hand sanitize with an alcohol gel before entering the surgery. It will also help if you have recently brushed your teeth and used the toilet at home before you come.
The dentist and nurse will be wearing PPE – a mask, visor, gown and gloves. You may be asked to rinse for 1 minute with a mouthwash to remove as many virus particles in your mouth as possible. It may look a little scary but we are still the same caring, smiling people that we were before lockdown!
Once your treatment is complete the dentist either Duncan or Andy will explain what appointment/s you need to book in the future and hand you over to the nurse outside the surgery. She will ask you to collect your belongings and hand sanitize again before escorting you to the reception to book appointments and pay for any treatment.
Please be patient with us as it is all a very strange way of working to enable us to keep everyone safe at this unprecedented time.
We have always been meticulous in our attention to detail when it comes to cross infection control but due to the contagiousness of this new virus we have had to modify many procedures to maintain social distancing and make your visit as contactless a journey as possible.
If at any time you have a dental problem please contact the surgery to book an appropriate appointment but if you develop any of the Covid-19 symptoms or have been close to someone else who has, please do not attend but call to make alternative arrangements.
Andy, you and the team have worked wonders over the past few weeks to get your business up and running safely. Did not know quite what to expect today – turned out to be the usual happy band of people with a little extra clothing and masks – not scary ones either. You should be proud of yourselves – crack open the gin tonight!
Thought that the change from disclosing to just verbal information concerning oral-hygiene was informative and enlightening especially regarding transmission of infection and delivered in the usual friendly manner.
